The 26th meeting of Skål International Baku was held within the framework of Global Entrepreneurship Week

On November 16, the 26th meeting of Skål International Baku took place.

The event, organized by the Commission on Tourism and Services, operating under the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held as a part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week.

He noted that the organization he leads is the first and the only club established in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). Jeyhun Ashurov also noted that this meeting was held within the framework of Global Entrepreneurship Week. According to him, every year, since 2008, the third week of November is designated as the Global Entrepreneurship Week worldwide: "Entrepreneurship is a type of activity that creates value. Entrepreneurs are people who know how to confront any situation. Entrepreneurship creates jobs, promotes stability and prosperity”. The Confederation of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been operating in Azerbaijan since 1999. Currently, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan has about 6,000 business entities, including about 70 associate members.

In recent years, activity in entrepreneurship and transparency in the economy have been observed in our country. It makes us very happy as entrepreneurs working in the field of tourism. As you know, tourism is a vulnerable industry. What has happened in recent years also confirms this. All processes in the world primarily affect this sector. But it is also very gratifying that after all the economic crises, pandemics, and wars, the area we represent was the first to recover.

In 2019, 1.5 billion people traveled around the world.

Currently, tourism is undergoing a period of recovery after the pandemic that occurred in 2020-2021, and the number of travelers will gradually increase. The global tourism is expected to recover by 70% this year.

Ruslan Guliyev, the Chairman of the Commission on Tourism and Services, operating under the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, speaking about the construction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, and the tourism opportunities of Karabakh region noted that the promotion and marketing of the tourism potential of these territories are the current challenges.

Vugar Zeynalov, the Vice-President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, stated that there is a serious need to stimulate entrepreneurship in the country. He said that it is possible to achieve an economic growth by developing entrepreneurship.

Later, at the event, Ilham Madatov, the rector of Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University, our honored guest Vugar Aliyev, the Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Azerbaijan, Goydeniz Kahramanov, the head of the Association of Travel Agencies of Azerbaijan, the members of Skål International Baku Aziz Shiriyev and Tarlan Guliyev gave speeches about the existing problems in the tourism sector, the importance of promotion and marketing of the said sector at the international level.
